Appraisals & Market Evaluations
When items are brought in to Harlowe-Powell for auction or identification, frequently the owner will want an appraisal or opinion of value. Harlowe-Powell can do this, as we have a certified appraiser on staff. It’s always best to make an appointment before bringing your items in, and to bring only a few items in at one time for appraisal. If a few things are brought in, the appraiser can do some abbreviated research on each item and give you an idea of what they might bring at auction. We generally do not do appraisals for insurance purposes. We only do appraisals for estates or items we are going to sell. We can give you a list of professional appraisers in town if you need a written appraisal for estate, tax, or insurance purposes.
Our appraiser, Sandra Perry, is generally in the gallery from 10am-5pm Monday-Friday; however, we strongly encourage making an appointment ahead of time by calling (434) 293-2904. Please try to avoid bringing items in during our gallery auctions, since it is difficult for us to give you and your items the attention they need.
All opinions given will be strictly verbal and are only an estimate of what the items will bring at the auction. We cannot guarantee any hammer prices. We also kindly appreciate any research or information that you may have of your items. Feel free to provide us with provenance and or any extra knowledge you may have of a piece.
