Vernon Powell, Auctioneer/Partner
Vernon (Pat) Powell, Jr. is a native of Charlottesville and received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Virginia. In 1991 he graduated from the Missouri Auction School and began holding monthly consignment auctions. In 1996 he received his C.A.I. designated degree from the Certified Auctioneers Institute at Indiana University. He and Bill Harlowe established Harlowe-Powell Auction in 1997, and the auction firm has since been conducting auctions on a regular basis.
Norman Dill, Auctioneer/Partner
Norman Dill grew up in Carmel, NY, where his family owned a chain of lumber and hardware stores, and where his grandfather worked as an auctioneer. He received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1981. Norman has been part of Charlottesville commerce for 25 years, owning and operating natural food and antiques businesses. After years of attending auctions and buying and selling antiques he decided to become a licensed auctioneer in 1997. He brings innovative strategies to the gallery’s already outstanding reputation, allowing the business to reach consignors and buyers all over the world.
